Do you remember when buying deodorant was easy? A simple process? Or buying toothpaste for that matter? It’s nice to have a selection. Choices are a good thing. But being overwhelmed is no fun, especially when it seems that the cornucopia of options in front of you are just part of some sloppy marketing ploy.
I was at Target the other day, looking for some pit rub. I’m old school, so I use Old Spice stick deodorant’s original recipe. The massive store had five shelves stocked with a wide variety of decorative Old Spice deodorants, with nifty names and tweaked packaging, but not one single stick of genuine Old Spice.
What the fuck? And you know producing, packaging, inventorying, and marketing all those different options only makes my deodorant more expensive. Idiots.
